testing the model of the relationship between violence against women on aggressive behavior in preschool children with mediating maternal mental health

the aim of this study was to test the model of the relationship between violence against women and aggressive behavior in children with mediation of maternal mental health. research design was correlation and path analysis. the study population included all of preschool children¢s mothers at the city of dezful. the sample was consisted of 250 pre-school children¢s mothers. that selected by multi-stage random sampling technique. the participants completed violence against women scale, general health questionnaire and child behavior checklist. the data analyzed by pearson correlation coefficient and path analysis. the analysis of the proposal model showed the paths of sexual and economical violence against mothers to maternal mental health and economical violence against mothers to child aggression were not significant. after removing these paths, the model had good fitness indices. the results indicated that the direct relationships between physical, psychological and sexual violence against women and maternal mental health were negatively significant. the direct relationships between physical and psychological violence against women with child aggressive behaviors were positively significant. the relationship between maternal mental health and child aggressive behaviors was negatively significant. the bootstrap analysis showed there were significant the indirect paths between physical, psychological and sexual violence against women and child aggressive behaviors with mediating maternal mental health. according to this finding can result the maternal mental health can mediate negative inter-parental relationship and child aggressive behaviors.
